Jim "Coach" Angsten grew up on the North side of Chicago where he attended Queen of Angels Grade School and St. George High School. His love of football and physical fitness brought him to Western Illinois University for an undergrad degree, and then to the University of Illinois to pursue a Master's in Education. He is currently in his 42nd year of teaching. A Chicago Catholic League Hall of Famer, he spent majority of his career as defensive coordinator for the "St. Rita Mustangs". Although he ended his coaching career there in 1998, he is currently completing his 35th year on staff at St. Rita.
Jim has been married to Pam Angsten since 1975. They have three children Tim, Jamie & Suzie. Jim and Pam are proud grandparents to 9 grandchildren.
On April 1, 2013 Jim and the rest of the Angsten family received devastating news. Jim was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), a horribly debilitating, motor neuron disease that robs a person of all bodily function. There is currently only one approved treatment for this disease and no cure.
Help us in the fight of ALS by making a kind donation. The process is fast, easy, and secure. We truly appreciate any donations you can provide. All funds raised will be used to pay for "Coach's" health care.
